2190 руб''The Pathways of Life - Uncensored''
Sarah L. Breeden Clarence Knight, a filmmaker who is making it big out in Hollywood, is suddenly uprooted from his city life when his best friend, Reggie Dunn, summons him to come back home because Reggie's father is dying. After all, Mr. Dunn played an intricate part in Clarence’s upbringing. He unwillingly returns to his old stomping grounds of Woodland Heights, the Projects. Once he arrives, he discovers that his old hood isn't quite the way it used to be when he and his family moved there twenty years ago. While visiting with his best friend and catching up on old times, Clarence figured he could make the best of the trip by surprising his friend with a camera crew that is in the process of making a documentary about their lives in Woodland Heights, the way it was in the 70s. But he also has another motive for this documentary; he longs to know what has happened to a kid named Marcus Paige they used to hang with. As the camera starts rolling, secrets—dark and shocking ones—also begin to unravel....

Graham Ratcliffe On the night of 10-11 May 1996, eight climbers perished in what remains the worst disaster in Everest's history. Following the tragedy, numerous accounts were published, with Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air becoming an international bestseller. But has the whole story been told? A Day to Die For reveals for the first time the full, startling facts that led to the tragedy. Graham Ratcliffe, the first British climber to reach the summit of Mount Everest twice, was a first-hand witness, having spent the night on Everest's South Col at 26,000 ft, sheltering from the deadly storm. For years, he has shouldered a burden of guilt, feeling that he and his teammates could have saved lives that fateful night. His quest for answers has led to discoveries so important to an understanding of the disaster that he now questions why these facts were not made public sooner. History is dotted with highprofile disasters that both horrify and capture the attention of the public, but very rarely is our view...

1935 рубA Life Marketed as Fiction: An Analysis of the Works of Eliza Parsons
Karen Morton In A Life Marketed as Fiction, Karen Morton argues for a reevaluation of the prolific late eighteenth century author Eliza Parsons, who at age fifty was forced to begin writing novels to provide for her family after her husband's death. In her career, she published nineteen novels, spanning more than sixty volumes, but is chiefly remembered today as the author of two of the "horrid novels" mentioned in Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. In this book, the first full-length study of Parsons' works, Morton uncovers never before revealed biographical information about this elusive author and corrects the errors of previous scholars before turning to an in-depth analysis of Parsons' works. Included are chapters on her Gothic novels and her novels of contemporary manners, but Morton delves deeper and also looks for insight into the little-known Parsons by examining her prefaces, dedications, and the letters in which she solicited money. What emerges is a portrait of a fascinating, talented,...
